Lauris has participated in the SIBREC project as a representative of Foundation Maarja Village, an organization in Estonia offering community living service, sheltered workplace, vocational gardening school and rehabilitation to young adult with special needs. He is getting more and more inspired by both permaculture and CARe method, the latter one he tends to call “permaculture for social workers”.
Lauris works as an occupational assistant in a house in the town of Tartu, where he is supporting five young adults with mental disabilities living there at the moment. In Tartu he is involved in Elava Tartu Liikumine (Transition Town Tartu) and in community gardening.

Promoting social inclusion and co-production

Social work practitioners, community developers and people living in eco-villages can work together to promote community and environmental sustainability, while at the same time finding opportunities to promote social inclusion. This workshop will give an overview of the examples from the Social Inclusion in the Baltic Sea Region through Eco-villages and Communities project: www.inclusion-in-communities.com
