Empowerment, regeneration culture
In Jake’s words, “Growing up in the Findhorn Ecovillage and Community initially left me quite cynical regarding the place of young people in Ecovillages – and thus of Ecovillages themselves”. However while attending the NextGEN meetings during the 2013 GEN Conference (Schweibenalp), he was wholly inspired by the young people he encountered there. Since then, Jake has focussed on strengthening NextGEN through representing NextGEN Europe in the NextGEN Youth Council, sitting on the GEN Europe Council as a youth representative, as the overall Finances Coordinator, and through supporting the overall strategic coordination”.
Aside from his work with NextGEN he tries and balances his time between working directly with action ‘on the ground’ with the more meta network building, ideas generating, and general systems thinking – with the overall goal of empowering people and organisations towards a regenerative culture. Currently, he is focused on socially focussed (but wholistily minded) education – primarily facilitating, coaching, training and facilitating within the Sociocracy 3.0 and Possibility Management systems; the aim being effective and functional systems that contribute to the well-being of, and bring value to all elements involved.
