Posted by Kaie Kotov on January 05, 2018

Short term EVS: Inspiration for Conscious Change

In July 2018 Estonia will host an international ecovillage conference organised by the Global Ecovillage Network of Europe. 10 volunteers from five countries will arrive 3 weeks earlier to help with preparation of the conference, as well as to learning-by-doing and gaining a rich experience in international event management and sustainable development.

Requirements: 17-30 years old and legal residency in one of the following countries: Spain, Italy, Germany, UK, Slovakia, France.

The EVS short term volunteers will be involved at the GEN-Europe conference preparation, implementation and wrap-up. You will work in different work areas from marketing, sub-event creation, participant management to catering and site organisation tasks. The volunteers may have different tasks during the different phases of the conference. For instance, before the conference, one may be at the marketing team but during the conference at the welcoming team supporting the participant management.  In general, you will be working together with different teams and be work lead by those team members – i.e marketing tasks will be coordinated and supervised by marketing team leader, sub-event creation will be coordinated by conference programme manager, catering activities will be organised by catering team leader etc. The whole group is also coordinated by a group coordinator who is assigned by Lilleoru.

The EVS project will take place from 15 of June 2018 to 22 July 2018. All participants will take part for a period of 5 weeks..

The living conditions will be simple with the focus on low ecological footprint. You may expect shared rooms and common facilities, natural rural environment and diverse social activities together with the group.

What is EVS?

EVS is the European Voluntary Service, is a program allowing young people to go abroad, learn and contribute to a better world with support from Erasmus+ funding. It provides an opportunity to join meaningful work and experiential learning while your food, accommodation, traveling, pocket money, insurance and mentorship are fully covered. A person can only do one long-term EVS.
